1) Stable structure and efficient absorption
Hydroxy methionine forms a stable chelated complex with zinc ions, preventing antagonism with phytates and sulfates. It utilizes amino acid absorption pathways to enter the intestinal wall, resulting in significantly higher absorption efficiency than inorganic zinc.
2) High bioavailability and lower dosage requirement
Once absorbed, it directly participates in the synthesis of various zinc-containing enzymes (such as Cu/Zn-SOD), showing higher biological activity and nutritional utilization at the same inclusion rate.
3) Enhanced antioxidant and immune functions
Provides hydroxy methionine (organic acid + methionine precursor) → improves amino acid metabolism and increases antioxidant capacity.

1) Layers
Studies show that different zinc sources and supplementation levels have no significant effect on laying performance or egg quality in hens. However, adding 40 or 80 mg/kg MHA-Zn to the diet significantly improves eggshell quality, reduces the broken egg rate, and enhances tibia strength in laying hens aged 66–72 weeks.

2) Weaned piglets
Studies indicate that supplementing piglet diets with hydroxy methionine zinc (MHA-Zn) instead of zinc sulfate promotes zinc transport and deposition, increases antioxidant enzyme activity and gene expression, and maintains intestinal barrier integrity by reducing inflammatory cytokine expression—thereby supporting normal intestinal function under oxidative stress.
3) Ruminants
In Simmental bulls, dietary supplementation with 80 mg/kg hydroxy methionine zinc significantly improved semen quality, reflected by increased semen volume, sperm density, and motility, along with the lowest deformity rate.

4) Aquatic animals
In carp, additional supplementation with 50.5 mg/kg zinc (as MHA-Zn) resulted in a maximum weight gain rate (WGR) of 363.5%. Moreover, as zinc supplementation increased, zinc deposition in vertebrae, intestines, liver, and whole fish also increased significantly (P < 0.01).
